Glass is often strengthened by applying compressive stress to its surface through chemical or physical means. When the glass is exposed to outside forces, it first reduces the surface tension, strengthening its ability to support weight and increasing its resistance to wind, cold, heat, impact, and other environmental stresses.

When Tempered glass is broken by outside pressures, the broken pieces combine to produce tiny, honeycomb-like, obtuse angle particles that are difficult to seriously injure humans. The impact and bending strengths of tempered glass are three to five times greater than those of regular glass for the same thickness. Tempered glass is more thermally stable than regular glass, withstanding temperature swings of up to 300 °C three times as often.

Tempered glass has significantly enhanced its load-bearing ability, making it far less fragile and significantly less harmful to human health. It is extremely safe to use. Tempered glass is significantly more resistant to thermal cracking than regular glass since it can tolerate temperature variations of more than 250 degrees and can sustain rapid chilling and heating three to five times longer than regular glass. This kind of glass is safe. to guarantee the security of appropriate materials used in tall structures.

So what are the drawbacks of tempered glass?

First of all, Tempered glass that has been tempered cannot be cut or processed any further; it can only be shaped to the required shape before being tempered.

Second :Tempered glass has the potential to Self explosion, whereas ordinary Float glass does not, even if Tempered glass is stronger than ordinary Float glass

Third : Tempered glass will exhibit surface irregularities (wind spots) and a little reduction in thickness. Thinning occurs because the glass is rapidly cooled by a strong wind after being softened by hot melting, which reduces the crystal gaps inside the glass and increases pressure. As a result, the glass is thinner than it was before tempering. Tempering generally results in a 0.2–0.8 mm reduction in 4-6 mm glass and a 0.9–1.8 mm reduction in 8–20 mm glass. Tempered glass cannot have a mirror finish since the precise degree is dependent on the apparatus.

Depending on how it is shaped, Tempered glass can be classified as either flat or curved.(Curved tempered glass )

Curved Tempered glass.jpg

Safety glass includes both curved and flat Tempered glass. extensively utilized in glass curtain walls, interior partition glass, daylighting ceilings, high-rise building doors and windows, furniture, glass guardrails, and sightseeing elevator passageways, among other applications. Tempered glass is typically used in the following sectors:

Building templates, architecture, the decoration industries (windows, doors, interior decoration, etc.), the manufacturing of furniture (glass coffee tables, furniture accessories, etc.), the manufacturing of home appliances (television, oven, air conditioning, refrigerator, etc.), the electronics and instrumentation industry (many digital products, including mobile phones, MP3, MP4, clocks, etc.), the manufacturing of automobiles (glass cutting boards, etc.), and the daily necessities industrySince there are no typical glass knife-shaped sharp edges and the broken tempered glass will break into uniformly small particles, it is known as safety glass and is frequently used in automobiles, interior design, and windows that open to the exterior of high-rise structures.
